Herpes outbreak can be of two types: initial outbreak and recurrent outbreak. Its symptoms can vary depending on whether it is the first outbreak or an episodic one. The first outbreak is usually very painful with symptoms taking 2-20 days to develop and a few more weeks to heal. Limited immunological response is detrimental to herpes treatment during an initial outbreak. The common symptoms of genital herpes include swelling, inflammation and itching. This is when you should seek immediate medical help to prevent further symptoms from appearing. Without quick antiviral treatment with Valtrex tablets and famciclovir, it is very difficult to curb an outbreak and get relief from the painful and unsightly symptoms.
Following the initial discomfort caused by itching, tingling and burning sensations, a set of more annoying and painful symptoms may show up. These symptoms include tiny red blisters around the genitals and the anus. They appear as fluid-filled bumps and usually erupt after a few days.
Other symptoms of genital herpes are high fever, severe headache, fatigue and breathing problems. The severity of these symptoms depends on your immunological strength. A healthy individual does not normally need a hospital visit when symptoms show up. However, if diagnosis is delayed by a few days, you may need to visit the outpatient department.
